Towerborne FAQ
Well, put simply – the best free-to-play build will be informed by feedback and what players want to see.
Our “Founder” feedback has been instrumental to our game improvements so far (Founders are all of those who’ve chosen to partake in playing Towerborne during this pre-1.0-launch period).
So, we want to welcome those who want to build with us – to help us get Towerborne into the best place it can be before we widen the audience to a lot more players … which we’re excited to do, when we get there!
Towerborne is sold for a fixed price during Early Access / Game Preview. The game is technically still in development – becoming a Founder by purchasing a Founder’s pack will get you early access to play Towerborne, and with your help we will fine tune the game on its way to a full, 1.0 free-to-play release.
If you are a Game Pass member, you’ll be able to access the game at no additional cost via your membership.
As a Founder, your support helps us create an experience that will captivate and entertain for years to come – and you’ll receive an item each month (perhaps more than one item, depending on your Founder’s Pack tier) as a reward for your ongoing support and to enhance your in-game experience.
Towerborne is currently ‘Steam Deck Playable’. This means that while the game performs well, you might need to tweak a few settings or customize controls to achieve your ideal gameplay experience—so adventure-on-the-go is fully within reach, with just a little personalization.
Eventually, we’ll be ‘Steam Deck Verified‘ – which is full Steam Deck functionality. We’re still working towards official Steam Deck Verified status, but don’t yet have a date to share.
In order to enjoy cross-progression, you’ll need to link any accounts that are not on the same platform (Xbox, Windows PC, Steam). More information on how to link accounts can be found here.
Towerborne supports cross-platform progression. This means that your progress will carry over when the game launches on other platforms. This means that your progress will carry over no matter the platform, ensuring a seamless experience.
As a Founder, you’re not just here to take up the cause to protect humanity — by being a Founder, you’ve also joined the select few whose strength and choices and actions will forge the future of Towerborne. To show our appreciation, we’re offering exclusive monthly bonuses to Silver and Gold Founders. With the release of Update 4, you may now log in at any time to claim all previous Monthly Founder’s Bonuses.
To claim your monthly bonus: Once you’re logged in and on the Belfry, open your menu. If you’re on keyboard, press [ESC] … a menu will appear. Click the Store tab. Click on an item to select it. Click on Claim to add the item to your inventory.
Players who have an Xbox Game Pass will receive additional perks in Towerborne. To obtain Xbox Game Pass Perks, log in to Towerborne with an account that has an active Game Pass subscription. Once in the game, you can head to the in-game store and claim their reward.
Once you have claimed a reward, that reward is yours forever. Players will not be able to obtain new perks until or unless they have an active Game Pass subscription. Cross-Platform Perks: Xbox perks can only be used on Xbox.
There will be couch co-op on Xbox (console only for now).
- Player 1 (Host): Sign in to your Xbox account and launch Towerborne.
- Players 2–4: Before joining, each sign in on the same console with their own Xbox account—press “Join” at the title screen.
The first person signed in becomes the Host (crown icon). Everyone’s progress saves to their individual accounts. If the Host quits or disconnects, the session ends for all players.
Launching on Steam Early Access is a deliberate decision that aligns with Stoic’s development philosophy. We believe in bringing real players into the process as early as possible to gather meaningful feedback and make improvements.
In Early Access, Steam allows us to dynamically engage with a passionate and committed community of players who are excited to help shape the game as it grows—allowing us to gather feedback and iterate in a way that benefits both players and the development team. Towerborne is designed to be a living game, which means it will be continually updated and refined over time.
Curios are tiered reward tracks in Towerborne that offer cosmetic items and resources as players progress through gameplay. They come in two types: Free and Premium.
Premium Curios require special items called Curio Cores to unlock.Curio Cores are primarily purchased with Belfry Bucks, Towerborne’s premium in-game currency, although they may occasionally be obtained through special events or rewards.
Players earn Writs mainly by completing tasks from the Requests Board. Writs are then spent to claim items within each Curio tier. Once enough items in a tier are claimed, the next tier becomes available. Curios do not expire, so players can progress and unlock rewards at their own preferred pace. Cosmetics obtained via Curios are separate from those purchased directly in the Store tab using Belfry Bucks.
Writs are items you earn through gameplay (mostly from the Requests Board) in Towerborne, and you spend them within Curios—tiered reward tracks—to claim cosmetic items and resources.
Belfry Bucks are Towerborne’s premium currency. You use Belfry Bucks to buy cosmetics directly from the Store tab or to purchase Curio Cores, which unlock Premium Curios.
Curios never expire, so you can earn and claim rewards at your own pace.
